Colorado Avalanche Notes, Quotes 2008-11-11
--LW Darcy Tucker was in the right place at the right time, parked at the edge of the crease, when he back-handed T.J. Hensick's pass from the right circle into a half-open net at 15:39 of the second period for the game's only goal. It was Tucker's second goal in two games, third of the season and 200th of his NHL career. "Fortunately, I had a couple (Nashville) players around me and they missed the puck and it came right to me," Tucker said. "We needed this (win). The milestone is especially nice because we won the game."

--G Peter Budaj stopped 26 shots for his sixth career shutout and first since a 2-0 win against Boston on March 6, 2007. Budaj had allowed 13 goals in his previous three starts, all losses. "I made a couple of big saves early, and it helped me calm down," he said. "When you're losing, you try to think too much and you try to create too much. We played a more simple game and the guys really played well in front of me. Hopefully this is the start of a winning streak."

--The Avalanche power play continues to be a problem. The team went 0-for-9, negated three man advantages with penalties, and has gone 0-for-22 over the past four games.

--C Joe Sakic was forced to leave after one period because of a sore back. Sakic didn't play Thursday against Minnesota because of a back strain. He played 7:19 Saturday against Nashville, had two shots on goal and lost all five of his faceoffs. The Avalanche is calling his status day to day.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "There's winning and there's misery. This was misery." -- Avalanche left wing Ryan Smyth, after the team ended its five-game losing streak Saturday.
