--C Joe Sakic returned to the Avalanche lineup Wednesday against St. Louis after missing six games in a row, five with a back ailment and the other following a root canal. Sakic skated between LW Wojtek Wolski and RW Marek Svatos. He played 15:24, had one shot on goal and won nine of 16 faceoffs.
--LW Wojtek Wolski was in the Avalanche lineup Wednesday against St. Louis after missing one game with a head injury. Wolski skated on a line with C Joe Sakic and RW Marek Svatos. He played 20:10, had one shot on goal and helped kill off all three of the Blues' power plays.
--C Tyler Arnason has been demoted to the fourth line. He skated Wednesday with LW Ian Laperriere and RW David Jones. Arnason was credited with a third-period assist, his first assist of the season and first point in 10 games, since he scored a goal on Oct. 30 against Columbus. Arnason has only two goals in 20 games this season.
--LW Darcy Tucker (sprained left knee) is expected to be sidelined about four weeks and is on injured reserve. He was hurt in the third period of the Avalanche's Nov. 24 game in Anaheim when he collided with the Ducks' Brendan Morrison.
--C Ben Guite (ribs) was injured in practice Nov. 10 and is out indefinitely. He was placed on injured reserve Nov. 22.
--D Adam Foote (back, neck) has missed two games after getting checked from behind into the boards on Nov. 22 by Los Angeles' John Zeiler. Foote has yet to practice and is listed as day-to-day.
--D John-Michael Liles (ill) was scratched from Wednesday's game against St. Louis and is day-to-day.
